America's Nuclear Winter

Up until the 1970s, the U.S. was the global leader in designing, building, and operating nuclear power plants. As you can see below, times have changed—dramatically.
In fact, if you closely review the following bar chart, you’ll notice the USA is totally absent from the countries developing large-scale nuclear reactors. Typically, those can generate enough power to supply a Western city with a population of around 500,000 (more for developing countries).
