Jim Cramer: Nuclear Expert (Self-Appointed)
Hello, Subscribers:
Any informed observer tracking the explosive growth of AI is acutely aware that the biggest threat to its continuing proliferation is a shortage of energy. Forecasts are that the U.S. will require an additional 100 gigawatts of electricity generation over the next five years, with some projections substantially higher.
One hundred gigawatts (GW) can seem like an abstract number until you realize that this is roughly equivalent to building 100 new large-scale nuclear reactors over that impossibly short timeframe. (A standard-issue 100 GW light-water reactor can power an American city with a population of approximately 750,000.)
