On investor panic

Good morning!

The stock market retreat since mid-February has been garden-variety in terms of magnitude. At its worst, it was roughly a 10% decline, which barely qualifies as a correction.

Despite the mild drop, a multitude of investors quickly moved into panic mode. In the past, it would have taken a much deeper sell-off to trigger this degree of fear and bearishness.
