Friday Haymaker: Chartbook
Evergreen Charts, courtesy of CIO Jeff Dicks
Hello, Subscribers:
If you are an Evergreen client or have simply followed the elder Haymaker’s writings since his Evergreen Virtual Advisor (EVA) days, there are good odds you’ve heard the name Jeff Dicks mentioned at one point or another. Jeff is currently Evergreen’s Chief Investment Officer and is a data whiz with an excellent eye for financial charts. To that point, he recently put his skills to use creating and presenting a slide deck covering just about every conceivable macro-economic topic of the day. Below for your benefit are half a dozen excerpts from that presentation.
Enjoy!
The Haymaker Team
An ever-present theme in Haymaker Land is the way in which large swaths of seemingly indicative economic data sit at odds with other bodies of equally telling data. The chart above is apparently designed to solidify that notion, as it indicates Q4 job losses consistent with a recession-weighted economy… yet there is no such recession in sight. And as Jeff noted, “negative job growth is very, very rare outside of recessions.”
